I love most poetry. It really is difficult for me to point out just one or two. Also, I enjoy reading bios and novels by varied people and authors.
I write poetry and have my own web page. The poetry comes from my book.
I have never been to Ireland but am half Irish and very attached to anything Irish.
Other than reading and writing, I dearly love the symphony, ballet and most opera. Second love is rythm and blues and USA southland jazz.

Testament to Sobriety (to the air of ‘The Limerick Rake’) Now there is a drink that's stranger than most, and is often employed for a cheer and a toast. It comes from the hills, the plains and the bogs and sponsors the quarest activity. It inspires the poet & bard who may choose, to compose such verse as can rightly amuse. And by making me sing and dance for them all, it has earned me a grand reputation. I was often induced after drink in the town, to chase after maids or what 'ere was around. I would sire them kids like a randy puck goat, and not two from the same locality. I’d drank brandy from France & cognac as well, juice of the vine from the circles of hell. But like the gin of the Dutch it doesn’t compare for they know not of whiskey distillin’. I drank it with gentlemen and also with rakes, I drank it at weddings, I drank it at wakes. Often I woke all cramped up and sore, yet I never suffered such sweet lacerations. But now I will say, though I'm loathe to admit, that all I have left is my humour and wit. For all that I had I spent or was lost, while maintaining the poorest of discipline.

I m an argentine citizen with Irish descent.
My mother s surname is Dillon Casey and have a strong and deep feeling of belonging to Irish traditions.
I m a physician, but also a writer and had published a few poems. I also like writtings assays caring about metaphisical considerations.
I want you to receive this:Ireland
(Land of poets and soldiers)
Please remain here, just in my eyes,
Please, Irish greens prairies and meadows:
Just stay in the deep green of my inherited eyes
The soldier sleeps ‘ is dream while,
the ancient poet write a song...
Sacred blood flowered in the prairies
and in the Celtic land roses became orange...
Both live in every soul of every Irish man and women
that cry and pray; and again cry and pray, even though
they always knew that it was useless, and shall be,
forever shall be...
But poetry is not going to die while the meadows remain green
and also the soldier will fight and die while Ireland remains slave.
An amusing and amazing song
wishpering hidden celtic
and gaelic mysteries,
break in tears, break in courage.
And in the meanwhile kids are borned,
In the mean while parents died...
In the mean while harps and drums
Uillean pipes and balalaikas
do not stop and do not harm...
And in the Celtic Land the roses became orange
because Irish blood got whitewashed
in the mortgage of its sacred souls downfallen.
And a wishper is loudly heard; and it says:
Erin go braigh,...Erin go braigh.

Always enjoy visiting Irish related sites. Yeats is my second favorite poet. I'm an O'Connor on my Grandmother's side, who immigrated here from the North of Ireland in the 1920s. As a boy, she told me stories of Cu Chulainn. Have you any information?<

OK--I'm so sorry I kept hitting the wrong keys on this computer--I'm trying to share with you some words I wrote a long time ago, about a winter's day outside of Derry, where I lived then: HOMEGOING Wild and wet, Stormswept, Raw and bonetouching, Horses
rough coats whipped inside out by gremlin gusts, Cattle statues bowing close to ground, Dogs barking silently. We need no coaxing heading home this day. (Copyright 1971 by M. E. Harris) There--that's it! Cheerio!

Your page and your poetry are lovely! I lived just outside Derry between 1970-1972 (the U.S. Navy had a communications base there at that time) and my heart was captured by Ulster and her people--by all of Ireland, in fact. In all my travels, I have nev
r encountered the same terrible beauty as exists in that land. If there are words for it, only the Irish poets such as yourself have them. Bless you and yours!
